Driving down Boulevard Saint-Germain in the chic 6th district of Paris, you might have passed by a little optician shop. If you have noticed it, you might not have known, however, that this is the shop where the stars come to get their glasses in Paris. Once inside Optique de l’Odeon’s luxe boutique, you’ll find it filled with dedications, signed pairs of glasses, and artwork of the actors, politicians, artists, athletes, singers, and writers who get their glasses here. And those are just the people who are willing to leave a dedication.
I won’t name drop, but trust me when I say that some of the biggest celebrities, artists, and politicians have come through here.
Brothers Stephane and David have been in the business for over 20 years and have built up a clientele of who’s who. They have worked on some of the top French and international films designing and choosing the glasses for characters, and have designed special models for these movies. They consult and collaborate regularly for films and are the only opticians in the business here in France to do it. They also create special collections with brands, musicians and singers for different projects, tours, etc.
Other than their star studded clients, they have a loyal following of regular customers. As a long-time glasses wearer myself, I know the struggle of finding the perfect pair. I have bounced around between a few different opticians and have tried on countless frames that never seem to be exactly what I’m looking for. But I’ve been going here for the last couple of years, and they seem to always get it right. They carry great brands, they’re on trend, and they know what fits your face. Everyone is so friendly, which we know isn’t always the case in Paris (let’s be honest). But if you come here, you don’t need to be a celebrity to get the star treatment.
